Black Women in Thailand (BWIT) is committed to ensuring that our website is accessible and inclusive for all members of our community, including people with disabilities. We strive to provide a positive experience for everyone and continuously work to improve accessibility.

What we do: 

  • Our website is designed to be compatible with screen readers and other assistive technologies.

  • We use clear, readable fonts, contrasting colors, and simple navigation to enhance usability.

  • All images include descriptive alt text whenever possible.

  • We aim to ensure that all content, including digital resources and event information, is accessible to all users.

Accessibility adjustments on this site

We have adapted this site in accordance with WCAG [2.0 / 2.1 / 2.2 - select relevant option] guidelines, and have made the site accessible to the level of [A / AA / AAA - select relevant option]. This site's contents have been adapted to work with assistive technologies, such as screen readers and keyboard use. As part of this effort, we have also [remove irrelevant information]:

  • Used the Accessibility Wizard to find and fix potential accessibility issues

  • Set the language of the site 

  • Set the content order of the site’s pages

  • Defined clear heading structures on all of the site’s pages

  • Added alternative text to images

  • Implemented color combinations that meet the required color contrast

  • Reduced the use of motion on the site

  • Ensured all videos, audio, and files on the site are accessible

Declaration of Partial Compliance

The accessibility of certain pages on the site depend on contents that do not belong to the organization, and instead belong to third-parties. We therefore declare partial compliance with the standard for these pages. Some content on our website comes from third-party sources (e.g., embedded videos, external tools, or widgets). We make every effort to ensure accessibility, but we cannot guarantee that all third-party content meets accessibility standards.

Accessibility Arrangements in the Organization

BWIT is a digital-first, community-driven platform, and we also host in-person meetups and events. Our accessibility arrangements include both online and physical accommodations:

Online / Digital Accessibility:

  • Website compatibility with screen readers and other assistive technologies.

  • Clear fonts, high-contrast colors, and simple navigation to improve readability.

  • Alt text for images and descriptive links wherever possible.

  • Accessible document formats available upon request (e.g., PDFs or text versions).

  • Structuring virtual events to be inclusive and easy to follow for all participants.

Physical / In-Person Accessibility:

  • In-person events are hosted in locations with accessible entrances, seating, and facilities whenever possible.

  • Event spaces are chosen with ease of access via public transport and parking availability in mind.

  • Accessibility accommodations such as audio support, clear signage, and assistance on request are provided when needed.

  • We encourage participants to notify us in advance if they require specific accessibility arrangements so we can ensure their needs are met.
